Álvaro Núñez de Lara (died 1287)
Álvaro Núñez de Lara (died 1287) was a Castilian nobleman and military figure, a prominent member of the House of Lara. He was the son of Juan Núñez I de Lara and Teresa Álvarez de Azagra. He held significant lordships and played a notable role in the political and military events of the reigns of Alfonso X of Castile and Sancho IV of Castile.
Álvaro Núñez de Lara's influence stemmed from his lineage and the extensive lands he inherited or acquired. He often found himself embroiled in conflicts and power struggles within the Castilian court, frequently aligning himself with opposing factions. He participated in various military campaigns, both against the Moors and in internal conflicts.
His death in 1287 marked the end of a turbulent period in Castilian history and the waning of the influence of his branch of the Lara family. His descendants continued to play a role in Castilian politics, though not with the same level of prominence as Álvaro Núñez de Lara.
