Zaqqum

Zaqqum is a tree mentioned in the Quran (Surah As-Saffat 37:62-68, Surah Ad-Dukhan 44:43-46, and Surah Al-Waqi'ah 56:52) as a punishment for the deniers of truth in Hell. It is described as a tree that springs out of the bottom of Hell, bearing fruit resembling the heads of devils. The inhabitants of Hell are forced to eat from it, leading to intense suffering and torment. The consumption of Zaqqum is described as causing a burning sensation in their bellies, like molten brass boiling inside them. The concept of Zaqqum serves as a vivid and terrifying depiction of the consequences of rejecting faith and righteous behavior in Islamic eschatology. Its imagery is used to emphasize the severity of Hellfire and the suffering endured by those condemned to it.
