Xi Nanhua
Xi Nanhua, born in 1963, is a Chinese mathematician and professor at East China Normal University (ECNU) in Shanghai. He is primarily known for his work in representation theory, algebraic groups, and related areas of mathematics.
Xi received his Ph.D. from the Institut Fourier at the Université de Grenoble, France in 1988, under the supervision of Michel Duflo. His doctoral research focused on Harish-Chandra modules and representation theory of real reductive groups.
Following his doctorate, Xi returned to China and joined the faculty at ECNU. He has since made significant contributions to the understanding of representations of algebraic groups over fields of positive characteristic, particularly the classification of irreducible representations. He has also worked extensively on Lusztig's conjectures concerning characters of finite groups of Lie type.
Xi Nanhua has held visiting positions at various prestigious institutions, including the Institute for Advanced Study in Princeton. He is a highly regarded mathematician within the Chinese mathematical community and internationally, having published numerous research papers in leading mathematical journals. His work is characterized by its depth, technical sophistication, and significant impact on the field.
