Margie (TV series)

Margie was an American situation comedy that aired on ABC from October 3, 1961, to April 16, 1962. The series was based on the 1946 Betty Grable film Margie, which was a nostalgic look back at the Roaring Twenties.

The television series starred Cynthia Pepper as Margie Clayton, a spirited and somewhat mischievous teenager living in the 1920s. Dave Willock played her easy-going father, Vern Clayton, a widower. Wesley Tackitt portrayed Margie's younger brother, Cornell Clayton. Penney Parker played her best friend, Maybelle Jackson. Don Beddoe appeared as Mr. Honeywell, the family's grumpy neighbor.

The show's humor revolved around Margie's teenage antics, fashion choices, and romantic interests during the Jazz Age. Episodes typically involved Margie getting into various scrapes, often unintentionally, and her father having to help her out. The series attempted to capture the flapper spirit and the societal changes of the 1920s through a comedic lens.

Despite its period setting and attempts at capturing the flapper era, Margie failed to find a large audience and was canceled after one season consisting of 26 episodes.
