Whiteout (comics)
Whiteout is the title of a crime comic book series created by Greg Rucka and Steve Lieber, published by Oni Press. The series is set in Antarctica and follows U.S. Marshal Carrie Stetko as she investigates murders.
The series is notable for its hard-boiled crime noir elements, its setting in the extreme environment of Antarctica which plays a significant role in the plot and Stetko's character development.
The Whiteout series consists of two mini-series:
-
Whiteout (1998) - The original series, focusing on a murder investigation near the McMurdo Station.
-
Whiteout: Melt (1999) - A follow-up series that continues Stetko's story and explores further crimes in Antarctica.
The comic was adapted into a film of the same name in 2009, starring Kate Beckinsale as Carrie Stetko. The film adaptation altered several plot points and character details from the original comic book.
