West Black Sea region (statistical)

The West Black Sea region is a statistical region of Turkey defined by the Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK) for the purpose of regional statistical analysis. It encompasses the provinces of Bartın, Karabük, and Zonguldak. These provinces are located along the western portion of Turkey's Black Sea coast.

The region's boundaries are defined purely for statistical purposes and do not reflect administrative divisions in Turkey beyond the province level. Analyzing socio-economic data at the regional level provides insights into developmental disparities and trends within the country, allowing for targeted policy interventions and resource allocation. Statistical data collected for the West Black Sea region covers a wide range of indicators, including population demographics, economic activity, employment rates, education levels, health statistics, and infrastructure development. This data is used by government agencies, researchers, and businesses for planning and decision-making processes. The region's economy is heavily influenced by industries such as mining (particularly coal), forestry, agriculture (primarily hazelnuts and corn), and increasingly, tourism.
