Walter Moberly (engineer)
Walter Moberly (1847-1922) was a Canadian civil engineer known for his work in railway construction, particularly in the early development of the Canadian Pacific Railway (CPR). He was the son of Walter Moberly Sr., also a prominent engineer and explorer.
Moberly played a significant role in surveying and mapping potential routes for the CPR across the Rocky Mountains. He contributed to the identification of Kicking Horse Pass, although its initial selection was later debated due to steep grades.
Following his work with the CPR, Moberly continued to work on various railway and infrastructure projects throughout western Canada. His contributions helped to open up the region for further settlement and development.
