Uukwambi

Uukwambi is a kingdom and a former tribal authority in north-central Namibia. It is one of the eight Owambo kingdoms, located in the western part of Owamboland. The Uukwambi kingdom is traditionally led by a king or queen, known as a mwene. The Uukwambi people are primarily agriculturalists, with a focus on cattle herding and millet farming. Historically, Uukwambi was known for its strong military and played a significant role in the pre-colonial history of the region, including conflicts with neighboring kingdoms and resisting colonial expansion. Today, Uukwambi continues to maintain its traditional structures and cultural identity within the modern Namibian state. The kingdom's area is primarily located within the present-day Oshana Region.
