Upwey railway station (Abbotsbury Railway)
Upwey railway station was a railway station located on the Abbotsbury Railway in Dorset, England. It served the village of Upwey. The station was opened on 9 November 1885 and closed to passengers on 1 December 1952. Freight traffic continued until 1962.
The station was situated on a single-track line and possessed a single platform. A small station building provided shelter for passengers, and a siding allowed for the loading and unloading of goods. Its primary purpose was to serve the local agricultural community and provide a connection for passengers travelling to and from Abbotsbury and Weymouth.
The Abbotsbury Railway, of which Upwey was a part, was a relatively short branch line that connected to the main Weymouth to Dorchester line. It was never particularly successful, and passenger numbers declined significantly following the First World War and the rise of road transport. The station is no longer standing, and little evidence of its existence remains.
