USS Stockdale (DDG-106)

The USS Stockdale (DDG-106) is an Arleigh Burke-class guided missile destroyer in the United States Navy. Commissioned in 2009, she is named in honor of Vice Admiral James Bond Stockdale, a Medal of Honor recipient and former Prisoner of War during the Vietnam War.

The USS Stockdale is a Flight IIA variant of the Arleigh Burke-class, featuring an extended helicopter hangar and enhanced capabilities for anti-air warfare, anti-submarine warfare, and anti-surface warfare. Her primary weapons systems include the Aegis Combat System, the Standard Missile family of surface-to-air missiles, Tomahawk cruise missiles, a 5-inch gun, and torpedoes. She also carries two MH-60R Seahawk helicopters.

Homeported in San Diego, California, the USS Stockdale has participated in numerous deployments and exercises around the world, supporting U.S. national security interests and promoting maritime security. These operations have included deployments to the Western Pacific, the Middle East, and other regions. The ship plays a vital role in carrier strike groups and other naval formations.

The ship's motto is "Return With Honor," reflecting Vice Admiral Stockdale's exemplary conduct as a prisoner of war.
