True Blue (TV series)

True Blue was an American police procedural drama that aired on NBC from September 26, 1989, to January 25, 1990. Created by Ron Leavitt and Arthur Silver, the series followed a squad of young rookie police officers assigned to the Midtown South precinct in New York City. The show aimed to depict the challenges and realities faced by these officers as they navigated the complexities of their jobs and personal lives.

The main cast included Tim Van Patten as Det. Francis "Frankie" DeSalvo, Ally Walker as Officer Jessica Haley, Dick Latessa as Sgt. Gino Felicelli, Leo Burmester as Det. Bill Stanley, Catherine Mary Stewart as Officer Jill Modell, and Darnell Williams as Det. Bobby Traverso.

True Blue was known for its gritty realism and attempts to portray the authentic experiences of police work. However, the series struggled in the ratings and was ultimately canceled after one season consisting of twelve episodes. Despite its short run, True Blue is remembered as part of the wave of police dramas that emerged in the late 1980s and early 1990s.
