Tropical Storm Linfa (2003)

Tropical Storm Linfa was a weak tropical storm that impacted southeastern China in June 2003. It formed on June 4, 2003, as a tropical depression over the western Pacific Ocean, east of the Philippines. The depression gradually intensified as it moved northwestward, reaching tropical storm strength on June 5 and receiving the name Linfa.

Linfa was characterized by its poorly organized structure and relatively weak intensity. It struggled to maintain a well-defined center of circulation, and its maximum sustained winds peaked at around 40 mph (65 km/h).

The storm made landfall over coastal Guangdong province in southern China on June 6. Upon landfall, Linfa quickly weakened into a tropical depression and dissipated shortly thereafter.

Despite its weak intensity, Linfa brought heavy rainfall to portions of southern China, leading to localized flooding and minor damage. There were no reports of fatalities associated with the storm. Due to its minimal impact, the name Linfa was not retired by the World Meteorological Organization.
