Triadi

Triadi, in the context of music, refers to a triad chord. A triad is a chord consisting of three notes: a root, a third, and a fifth. These notes are stacked in intervals of thirds above the root.

There are four basic types of triads, determined by the quality of the intervals between the notes:

  • Major Triad: Consists of a root, a major third, and a perfect fifth above the root.

  • Minor Triad: Consists of a root, a minor third, and a perfect fifth above the root.

  • Augmented Triad: Consists of a root, a major third, and an augmented fifth above the root.

  • Diminished Triad: Consists of a root, a minor third, and a diminished fifth above the root.

Triads are fundamental building blocks of harmony in Western music and are commonly used in a wide variety of musical genres. The different qualities of triads (major, minor, augmented, diminished) contribute to the overall mood and character of a musical piece. Inversions of triads (where a note other than the root is in the bass) are also frequently used to create smoother voice leading and harmonic variety.
