Tokarara

Tokarara is a small, uninhabited island in the Federated States of Micronesia, part of the Senyavin Islands in Pohnpei State. It is a low-lying, coral island characterized by sandy beaches and a covering of tropical vegetation.

Geography: Tokarara is a part of the larger Senyavin island group, which also includes Pakin Atoll and Ant Atoll. Its geographical features are typical of small coral islands in Micronesia, including limited elevation and a surrounding reef system. The island is vulnerable to sea level rise and storm surges.

Environment: The island's ecosystem supports a variety of plant and animal life adapted to the marine environment. The surrounding coral reefs are important habitats for fish and other marine species. The island itself provides nesting grounds for seabirds.

History: Tokarara, like the other Senyavin Islands, has a history of interaction with Micronesian peoples for centuries. While uninhabited today, it may have been used historically for fishing, resource gathering, or temporary settlement. It became part of the Trust Territory of the Pacific Islands administered by the United States after World War II, and subsequently part of the independent Federated States of Micronesia.

Economy: As an uninhabited island, Tokarara has no active economy. Its value lies in its natural resources, potential for ecotourism (if developed sustainably), and its role in the broader marine ecosystem of the region.

Administration: Tokarara falls under the jurisdiction of Pohnpei State within the Federated States of Micronesia.
