The Spire (comics)

The Spire is a six-issue fantasy/mystery comic book limited series created by writer Simon Spurrier and artist Jeff Stokely, published by BOOM! Studios in 2015. The story is set in the sprawling, mile-high walled city of Spire, a melting pot of different races and cultures. The city is governed by a half-human, half-alien (Medusi) Baroness.

The protagonist is Sha, a captain in the city watch, and the only member of her race (the "Scales") within the guard. Sha is tasked with investigating a series of gruesome murders that threaten to destabilize the fragile peace within The Spire. As she delves deeper into the case, Sha uncovers a conspiracy that reaches the highest levels of power and threatens to unravel the very fabric of the city.

The comic explores themes of prejudice, class disparity, political corruption, and the struggle for identity within a complex and stratified society. It is known for its intricate world-building, diverse cast of characters, and compelling narrative. Stokely's detailed artwork, featuring a mix of organic and mechanical elements, contributes significantly to the unique and immersive atmosphere of The Spire.
