The Italian Job (2001 video game)
The Italian Job is a vehicular combat and racing game developed by Pixelogic and published by Rockstar Games. It was released in 2001 for the PlayStation and Microsoft Windows platforms. The game is loosely based on the 1969 British film The Italian Job, though the plot and characters differ significantly.
The game features a story mode spanning fifteen missions, set across various locations in Turin, Italy, and London, England. Players primarily control Charlie Croker, leading a team of thieves in a series of heists involving Mini Coopers. Gameplay consists of driving sequences requiring players to navigate crowded streets, evade police, and complete objectives such as collecting gold, damaging enemy vehicles, and reaching checkpoints within a time limit.
In addition to the story mode, The Italian Job includes a "Challenge" mode, offering a series of time trial and destruction-based challenges. There is also a multiplayer mode where players can compete against each other in various racing and combat scenarios. The game features a variety of vehicles besides the Mini Cooper, each with its own handling characteristics and weapons.
