The Family Fang (film)

The Family Fang is a 2015 American comedy-drama film directed by Jason Bateman, based on the 2011 novel of the same name by Kevin Wilson. The film stars Bateman, Nicole Kidman, Christopher Walken, and Maryann Plunkett.

The plot centers on Annie and Baxter Fang, two adult siblings who return to their childhood home after their performance artist parents, Caleb and Camille, disappear. Throughout their childhood, Caleb and Camille involved Annie and Baxter in elaborate, often embarrassing and disruptive, public performances that they termed "art." As adults, Annie is a struggling actress and Baxter is a writer facing a block. The film explores the siblings' complex relationship with their eccentric parents, the impact of their unconventional upbringing, and the search for their missing parents, which forces them to confront their shared past and individual identities.

The film premiered at the 2015 Toronto International Film Festival and was released in select theaters and through video on demand in April 2016.
