The Dominion (Wellington)

The Dominion (Wellington) was a major daily newspaper published in Wellington, New Zealand. Founded in 1907, it served as a prominent voice in the capital city and the surrounding region for over a century.

The paper's origins lie in a need for a strong, independent voice in Wellington to rival existing publications. It quickly established itself as a broadsheet newspaper covering national and international news, politics, business, sports, and cultural events. Throughout its history, The Dominion was known for its in-depth reporting, editorial commentary, and commitment to journalistic integrity.

Over time, The Dominion underwent several changes in ownership and format. In 2002, it merged with the Evening Post to form The Dominion Post. The combined newspaper continued to be published daily and served as the main source of news for the Wellington region. The DominionPost newspaper ceased being published in its print version in 2023.
