The Christmas Album (Johnny Mathis album)
The Christmas Album is a holiday-themed studio album by American pop singer Johnny Mathis. It was initially released in November 1972 by Columbia Records and marked Mathis's first full-length Christmas album since 1969's Give Me Your Love for Christmas.
The album features a mix of traditional Christmas carols and contemporary holiday songs. Some notable tracks include "It's Beginning to Look a Lot Like Christmas," "Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas," "The Christmas Song (Chestnuts Roasting on an Open Fire)," and "White Christmas." The album's arrangements were handled by several prominent musicians.
The Christmas Album was commercially successful, achieving platinum certification from the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA). It has remained a popular Christmas album since its release and is often reissued during the holiday season. It is considered one of Mathis's most enduring and beloved Christmas recordings.
