Jim Dawson (cricketer)

James "Jim" Dawson (born 10 May 1940) is a former English cricketer who played first-class cricket for Derbyshire between 1962 and 1971.

A right-handed batsman, Dawson played primarily as an opener. He made his debut for Derbyshire in the 1962 season, scoring 26 runs in his first innings against Oxford University. He was a regular member of the Derbyshire side throughout the 1960s, achieving his highest score of 122 against Hampshire in 1966. He was awarded his county cap in 1967. Dawson continued to play for Derbyshire until the end of the 1971 season.

In his first-class career, Dawson played 179 matches, scoring 5,763 runs at an average of 20.73. He hit three centuries and 22 half-centuries. He also took 24 catches. After retiring from first-class cricket, he continued to play Minor Counties cricket for Staffordshire.
