Tanaops

Tanaops is an extinct genus of small, shrew-like mammals belonging to the order Primatomorpha. These creatures lived during the Paleocene epoch, approximately 60 to 55 million years ago. Fossils of Tanaops have been discovered in North America, primarily in Wyoming.

Tanaops is significant to paleontologists studying the early evolution of primates because it represents a relatively primitive form within the Primatomorpha lineage, a group that includes both primates and their close relatives, such as plesiadapiforms.
