SunVox
SunVox is a modular synthesizer and tracker, created by Alexander Zolotov (also known as NightRadio). It is available as cross-platform software for a variety of operating systems, including Windows, macOS, Linux, Android, iOS, and others, as well as embedded systems like Raspberry Pi and PocketCHIP.
SunVox employs a modular architecture, where synthesis and effects are constructed by connecting modules together in a visual environment. These modules can range from simple oscillators and filters to more complex effects like delays, reverbs, and distortion units. This modularity allows users to create highly customized sounds and complex signal processing chains.
The software also functions as a tracker, meaning that musical patterns are entered using a grid-based interface, allowing for precise control over note placement, instrument selection, and effects parameters over time. The tracker environment supports features like pattern looping, automation, and song arrangement.
SunVox is known for its small size, portability, and efficient performance, making it suitable for use on low-powered devices. It supports a variety of audio formats for both input and output. The software is often used for creating chiptune, electronic music, and sound effects, but its flexible architecture allows for experimentation with diverse musical styles.
