Submarine (band)
Submarine was an indie rock band formed in Lawrence, Kansas in the early 2000s. Known for their melodic songwriting and introspective lyrics, the band drew comparisons to artists such as The Shins, Death Cab for Cutie, and Built to Spill.
Submarine's lineup consisted primarily of songwriters and guitarists Michael Bliss and Dan Heryer, along with a rotating cast of drummers and bassists. The band released several EPs and albums throughout the mid-2000s, garnering a dedicated following in the Midwest indie scene and receiving positive reviews from independent music publications.
Their music often explored themes of youth, relationships, and the anxieties of adulthood, characterized by Bliss and Heryer's intertwined guitar work and harmonized vocals. Submarine toured extensively throughout the United States, sharing the stage with a variety of indie rock and alternative bands.
While the band has been largely inactive in recent years, their music continues to be appreciated by fans of indie rock. Details on their current status or any future plans remain scarce.
