It represents a significant redesign from the fifth generation, focusing on improved fuel economy, updated technology, and a more refined driving experience.

• Exterior Design: A restyled exterior with a bolder front grille, sleeker headlights, and a more sculpted body. The wagon variant (known as the Levorg in some markets), while visually similar to the sedan, features a distinct rear design tailored for increased cargo capacity.

• Interior Design and Technology: A redesigned interior with higher quality materials and improved ergonomics. A central infotainment system with a touchscreen display became standard, offering features such as navigation, smartphone integration (Apple CarPlay and Android Auto in later model years), and Subaru's Starlink connected services.

• Engines: The sixth generation Legacy typically offered a choice of two engines: a 2.5-liter four-cylinder boxer engine and a 3.6-liter six-cylinder boxer engine (depending on the market and trim level). Both engines were paired with Subaru's Lineartronic CVT (Continuously Variable Transmission).

• Safety Features: Subaru's EyeSight driver assist system was available on select trim levels, incorporating features such as adaptive cruise control, pre-collision braking, lane departure warning, and lane keep assist. Standard safety features included anti-lock brakes, stability control, and a suite of airbags.

• Drivetrain: Like all Subaru Legacy models, the sixth generation featured standard Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive.
