St. Francis Hospital (Milwaukee)

St. Francis Hospital was a Catholic hospital located in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Founded in 1912 by the Daughters of Charity, it served the south side of Milwaukee for many years, providing a range of medical services including general medical care, surgery, obstetrics, and emergency services. The hospital emphasized a mission of caring for the poor and underserved.

Over its history, St. Francis Hospital underwent expansions and renovations to modernize its facilities and services. It also partnered with other healthcare organizations to broaden its reach and improve the quality of care. In the later part of the 20th century, the changing healthcare landscape and financial pressures led to significant changes.

St. Francis Hospital closed its doors in 2002. The site was subsequently redeveloped for other purposes. Although the physical hospital no longer exists, its legacy remains in the healthcare services that continue to be provided in the Milwaukee community and in the memories of the people who worked there and were served by the hospital.
