St John's Cathedral (Brisbane)

St John's Cathedral is the Anglican cathedral in Brisbane, Queensland, Australia. It is the mother church of the Anglican Diocese of Brisbane and the seat of the Anglican Archbishop of Brisbane. Construction began in 1901 and was completed in 2009, making it one of the longest construction projects in Australian history. The cathedral is a notable example of Gothic Revival architecture, designed by the British architect John Loughborough Pearson and later his son, Frank Loughborough Pearson.

The cathedral is constructed primarily of sandstone sourced from local quarries. Its interior features stained glass windows, intricate carvings, and a high vaulted ceiling. Significant features include the Great Peter bell, one of the largest change ringing bells in the Southern Hemisphere, and various memorial chapels dedicated to individuals and events of historical importance to the Anglican Church in Queensland.
