Soltau (river)

The Soltau is a small river in Lower Saxony, Germany. It is a right tributary of the Böhme, which itself is a tributary of the Aller. The Soltau flows primarily through the Lüneburg Heath (Lüneburger Heide) region.

Its source is located near the town of Fassberg. From there, the river flows in a generally southwestern direction, passing through or near the towns of Müden (Örtze), Hermannsburg, and finally Soltau, after which it is named.

The Soltau is a relatively small river, and its economic importance is limited. However, it is significant as a defining feature of the landscape in the Soltau region and contributes to the area's natural environment. The river and its surrounding riparian zones are important habitats for various plant and animal species. It is also used for recreational activities such as canoeing and fishing in some areas.
