Slobomir
Slobomir is a private city located in Bosnia and Herzegovina, near the border with Serbia. It is situated on the banks of the Drina River. The city was founded by Mirko and Slobodanka Ćurić, and is named after them (Slobo(danka) + Mir). Slobomir is unusual in Bosnia and Herzegovina as it was a planned city, built from the ground up with private investment.
Slobomir is designed to be a modern and technologically advanced city. It features residential areas, commercial zones, and educational institutions. Key features of Slobomir include Slobomir P University, an institution of higher education, as well as a radio and television broadcasting center. The city also aims to promote business and entrepreneurship.
The development of Slobomir has faced various challenges, including economic difficulties and political complexities within the region. However, its founders and residents continue to work towards its growth and development as a viable urban center within Bosnia and Herzegovina. It represents an interesting, albeit relatively small, example of private urban development in a post-conflict environment.
