Skywalk (band)

Skywalk was an American progressive rock band formed in the late 1970s in the Midwest. They are primarily known for their technically proficient instrumental compositions, featuring complex time signatures and intricate melodies.

The band's lineup consisted of musicians who had previously been involved in other local music projects. Skywalk's music drew influences from established progressive rock acts such as Yes, Rush, and King Crimson, but incorporated elements of jazz fusion and classical music as well.

While Skywalk never achieved mainstream commercial success, they gained a loyal following within the progressive rock community. They released a limited number of recordings, primarily through independent labels and self-produced efforts. These recordings are now considered collector's items by some fans of the genre.

Skywalk's concerts were known for their high energy and emphasis on musicianship. The band toured regionally throughout the 1980s, sharing the stage with other up-and-coming progressive rock groups.

The band dissolved in the early 1990s. The individual members went on to pursue various other musical endeavors, including session work, teaching, and involvement in other bands and projects. Despite their relatively short lifespan, Skywalk is remembered by fans as a talented and innovative progressive rock act.
