Shangela
Shangela Laquifa Wadley (born Darius Jeremy Pierce, August 22, 1981) is an American drag queen, comedian, and actor best known for competing on RuPaul's Drag Race. Shangela is the only queen to compete on three separate seasons of the show (seasons 2, 3, and All Stars 3).
Early Life and Career:
Darius Pierce was born and raised in Paris, Texas. Prior to RuPaul's Drag Race, Pierce worked in public relations and as a professional dancer.
RuPaul's Drag Race:
Shangela first appeared on RuPaul's Drag Race in season 2, but was the first queen eliminated. She returned in season 3, making it to the final five before being eliminated again. Shangela returned a third time for All Stars 3, where she was a frontrunner and fan favorite, ultimately finishing in third/fourth place after a controversial jury vote.
Post-Drag Race Career:
Following her appearances on RuPaul's Drag Race, Shangela has enjoyed a successful career in entertainment. She has appeared in numerous television shows, including Glee, Community, 2 Broke Girls, The X-Files, and Lovecraft Country. She has also appeared in films such as Hurricane Bianca, A Star Is Born, and Dolemite Is My Name. Shangela has toured internationally with her one-woman show and has become a vocal advocate for LGBTQ+ rights. She was also a contestant on Dancing with the Stars season 31, partnering with Gleb Savchenko.
