Scott Fitzgerald (singer)
Scott Fitzgerald (born William McPhail, 28 April 1948 – 19 April 2023) was a Scottish singer, best known for representing the United Kingdom in the 1978 Eurovision Song Contest with the song "Love's Just a Feeling".
Fitzgerald began his musical career performing in clubs in Scotland before moving to London. He secured a recording contract and released several singles in the 1970s, achieving some success.
His most notable appearance was at the Eurovision Song Contest in Paris. "Love's Just a Feeling" finished in second place, narrowly losing to Israel's "A-Ba-Ni-Bi" by only a handful of points. Despite not winning, the song became a hit in the UK and across Europe, reaching the top ten in several countries.
Following his Eurovision performance, Fitzgerald continued to release music, though he never replicated the same level of success. He remained active in the music industry, performing live and working on various projects. He also occasionally appeared on television and radio shows.
Fitzgerald passed away in April 2023, shortly before his 75th birthday. His legacy remains tied to his memorable performance at the Eurovision Song Contest and the enduring popularity of "Love's Just a Feeling."
