Sam Wilson (Marvel Cinematic Universe)
Sam Wilson, also known as Falcon and later as Captain America, is a fictional character portrayed by Anthony Mackie in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU), based on the Marvel Comics character of the same name.
Character Biography:
Samuel "Sam" Wilson is introduced in Captain America: The Winter Soldier (2014) as a former pararescue airman who befriends Steve Rogers. Suffering from PTSD after losing his wingman, Riley, during a combat mission, Sam utilizes a specialized wing suit, making him known as Falcon. He joins forces with Captain America and Black Widow to defeat HYDRA operatives within S.H.I.E.L.D.
He continues to aid the Avengers in Avengers: Age of Ultron (2015) and Captain America: Civil War (2016), aligning himself with Captain America against the Sokovia Accords. He is imprisoned following the conflict but later freed by Rogers.
Wilson reappears in Avengers: Infinity War (2018) and is dusted by Thanos's snap. He is restored in Avengers: Endgame (2019) and participates in the final battle against Thanos. At the end of the film, Steve Rogers, having traveled back in time, passes the mantle of Captain America to Wilson, giving him his shield.
The Falcon and the Winter Soldier (2021):
The Disney+ series The Falcon and the Winter Soldier explores Wilson's struggle to accept the Captain America mantle. He grapples with the legacy of Captain America, the weight of the shield, and the societal implications of a Black man holding such a prominent position.
