Salvidia gens
The Salvidia gens was a minor plebeian family in ancient Rome. Few members of the gens are known, and they rarely held positions of significant political importance. The name Salvidius is derived from the Latin salvus, meaning "safe" or "healthy," and is a patronymic surname. The gens appears to have been more prominent during the late Republic and early Empire. Surviving inscriptions provide most of what little information is known about the individuals belonging to this family. Their activities seem to have been primarily focused in local administration and commerce, rather than higher political office.
