SS Boris

The SS Boris was a steamship launched in 1913 in Newcastle, England, for the Russian East Asiatic Company (Russisk Østasiatiske Dampskibsselskab). Primarily used for passenger and cargo transport between Europe and the Far East, specifically serving the route between Libau (present-day Liepāja, Latvia) and Vladivostok.

During World War I, the SS Boris was requisitioned by the Russian government and converted into a hospital ship. It served in this capacity in the Baltic Sea, tending to wounded soldiers. Following the Russian Revolution, the ship's ownership and allegiance shifted.

After the Revolution, the SS Boris became part of the Soviet merchant fleet.
