SM UC-61

SM UC-61 was a German Type UC II minelaying submarine or U-boat in the German Imperial Navy (Kaiserliche Marine) during World War I. She was commissioned on November 9, 1916.

UC-61 was primarily used for laying mines in enemy waters. These mines were designed to disrupt enemy shipping and naval operations. Details of her specific mining deployments, enemy ships sunk or damaged, and patrol routes are often found in historical records and U-boat war diaries.

UC-61 was surrendered to the Allies on November 21, 1918, after the Armistice. She was later scuttled off the coast of Ireland.

Her specifications typically included a displacement of around 417 tons surfaced and 493 tons submerged. Armament usually consisted of six torpedo tubes and a deck gun. The crew complement was typically around 26-32 men.
