Rubbish (radio series)
Rubbish was a British radio comedy series broadcast on BBC Radio 4. It was written by and starred Chris Addison, with additional material by Alistair Beaton in the first series. The series satirized aspects of contemporary society and politics, utilizing a fast-paced, often absurdist style.
The premise of Rubbish generally involved Addison adopting a particular character, often a commentator or expert, who would then deliver a stream-of-consciousness monologue filled with satirical observations, digressions, and self-deprecating humor. Recurring themes included the media landscape, consumerism, and the anxieties of modern life.
The show ran for two series, first airing in 2007. Each episode was typically around 30 minutes in length. While generally well-received by critics and listeners, Rubbish was not renewed after its second series.
