Roy Williams (wide receiver)
Roy Williams (born August 14, 1981) is a former American football wide receiver who played in the National Football League (NFL) for seven seasons.
College Career
Williams played college football at the University of Texas, where he was a standout receiver. He was a two-time All-American (2000 and 2001) and won the Biletnikoff Award in 2001, given annually to the nation's top receiver. He left Texas as the school's all-time leader in receiving yards and receptions.
Professional Career
Williams was drafted by the Detroit Lions with the seventh overall pick in the 2004 NFL Draft. He played for the Lions from 2004 to 2008, earning a Pro Bowl selection in 2006. During his time in Detroit, he was known for his athleticism and ability to make difficult catches.
In October 2008, Williams was traded to the Dallas Cowboys. He played for the Cowboys from 2008 to 2010. His performance in Dallas did not match his earlier success in Detroit, and he was eventually released by the team.
Williams signed with the Chicago Bears in 2011 but was released before the start of the season. He retired from professional football soon after.
Post-Playing Career
Since his retirement from the NFL, Williams has been involved in various business ventures.
