Ross McLennan (singer)
Ross McLennan is an Australian singer-songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, and record producer. He is best known as the frontman and principal songwriter of the critically acclaimed Brisbane-based indie pop band, The Custard, later known as Custard.
McLennan formed The Custard in 1989 with fellow students David McCormack and James Lees. The band achieved significant success in Australia in the 1990s with their quirky, melodic songs and energetic live performances. Their albums Wisenheimer (1994), Wahooti (1995), and Come Back, All Is Forgiven (1999) are considered Australian indie rock classics.
Following Custard's initial split in 1999, McLennan embarked on a solo career, releasing several albums under his own name. These albums showcased a more introspective and experimental side of his songwriting. He has also collaborated with other artists and worked as a producer for various Australian bands.
Custard reformed in 2015 and has since released several new albums, continuing to tour and perform. McLennan remains the central creative force behind the band. In addition to his musical career, McLennan has also been involved in other artistic pursuits, including visual arts.
