Robert C Hammond (sternwheeler)
The Robert C. Hammond was a sternwheel steamboat that operated on the Columbia River and its tributaries in the Pacific Northwest of North America from 1880 to 1898. Built in Portland, Oregon, it was primarily employed in transporting passengers and freight on the lower Columbia River, often running between Portland and Astoria, and upriver to points such as The Dalles. The Robert C. Hammond was known for its speed and reliability, making it a popular choice for travelers and shippers. It was considered one of the more substantial and well-appointed sternwheelers of its era on the Columbia River system. After its service life, the vessel was dismantled.
