Riverside Park (Baltimore)
Riverside Park is a 17-acre public park located in the Riverside neighborhood of Baltimore, Maryland. Situated on a peninsula overlooking the Middle Branch of the Patapsco River, the park offers a variety of recreational amenities and scenic views of the city skyline and harbor.
History:
The land that comprises Riverside Park was originally part of the estate of the Hollins family, prominent landowners in early Baltimore. In 1874, the City of Baltimore purchased the land to create a public park. Frederick Law Olmsted Jr., son of the renowned landscape architect Frederick Law Olmsted, developed a plan for the park’s layout in the early 20th century, although many of his designs were not fully realized.
