Ready mix

Ready mix, also known as ready-mixed concrete, is concrete that is manufactured in a batch plant, according to a set recipe or mix design, rather than being mixed on the construction site. It is delivered to the site, usually in truck mixers, ready for immediate use.

Ready mix is typically used when on-site mixing is impractical due to space constraints, regulatory concerns regarding dust and noise, or when precise control over the concrete mix is required. The batch plant can ensure consistent quality control and accurate proportions of ingredients, leading to more durable and predictable concrete.

The ingredients of ready mix typically include cement, aggregates (such as sand and gravel), water, and admixtures. Admixtures are added to modify the properties of the concrete, such as its setting time, workability, or durability.

The production of ready mix involves careful measurement and mixing of the ingredients at the batch plant. The concrete is then loaded into a truck mixer, which agitates the concrete during transport to prevent segregation and maintain its workability. Upon arrival at the construction site, the concrete is discharged from the truck mixer and placed in its final position.
