Raised by Wolves (book series)
Raised by Wolves is a science fiction novel series written by American author, Gennifer Albin. The series consists of three books: Raised by Wolves (2011), Between the Devil and the Deep Blue Sea (2012), and The Girl from the Clockwork Sky (2013).
The series is set in a dystopian United States in 2118, generations after a great war destroyed much of the world. The narrative follows sixteen-year-old Adelice St. Claire, who lives in the Republic of United America (RUA), a society rigidly divided between the elite “Patricians” and the working-class “Lowborns.” Adelice is identified as a Grave—someone who can sense the history and emotions attached to objects and places—and is selected to join the Order, the Patrician training academy. As she navigates the political intrigue and secrets of the Order, she uncovers conspiracies that threaten the fragile peace of the RUA and the truth about her own past.
The overarching themes explored in the Raised by Wolves series include class division, government control, the suppression of history, and the power of individual agency. The novels often touch upon romantic elements and feature complex relationships between characters as they struggle against a seemingly insurmountable system.
