Réva (sculpture)
Réva is a modern sculpture by Czech artist Stanislav Kolíbal, created in 2011. It is a large-scale outdoor work constructed primarily of weathered steel (Corten steel). Characterized by its minimalist aesthetic, Réva presents a series of geometric forms that are juxtaposed and layered to create a dynamic composition.
The sculpture's form evokes both industrial and organic references, reflecting Kolíbal's broader artistic practice. Its weathered steel surface provides a textural contrast to the clean lines and geometric shapes. The placement of Réva is often site-specific, taking into account the surrounding environment and intended to interact with the light and space around it. The resulting work invites contemplation on the relationship between form, material, and context. While Réva specifically is a single sculpture, the title reflects Kolíbal's ongoing interest in similar themes and materials within his sculptural works. Its stark beauty and presence offer a counterpoint to the natural or architectural setting.
