Publius Cornelius Lentulus (consul 162 BC)

Publius Cornelius Lentulus was a Roman politician and member of the patrician gens Cornelia. He served as consul in 162 BC, alongside Gnaeus Domitius Ahenobarbus.

Few details are known about his life and career. His election to the consulship indicates he held a significant level of prestige and influence within Roman society. However, his year in office was marked by a scandal. Lentulus and Ahenobarbus were forced to resign their consulship shortly after taking office due to irregularities in the election process that were brought to light by augurs. They were replaced by Publius Cornelius Scipio Nasica Corculum and Gaius Marcius Figulus.

The exact nature of the electoral issues is not fully documented, but such incidents were not uncommon in the Roman Republic. They often involved bribery, manipulation of electoral procedures, or challenges to the validity of the auspices taken before the elections. His career post-consulship is unknown.
