Prestoy

Prestoy refers to a now-deprecated distribution of Presto, an open-source, distributed SQL query engine designed for running interactive analytic queries against data sources of all sizes ranging from gigabytes to petabytes. Prestoy was developed and maintained by Yahoo. It included a number of Yahoo-specific patches and enhancements to the core Presto engine.

Historically, Prestoy provided improvements around stability, performance, and security, tailored for Yahoo's internal infrastructure and use cases. These modifications were generally not contributed back to the upstream Presto project. As the open-source Presto project matured and adopted many of the features and fixes pioneered in distributions like Prestoy, and especially following the fork of Presto into Trino, the need for separate distributions diminished.

The name "Prestoy" itself is a portmanteau of "Presto" and "Yahoo". While it was actively maintained, Prestoy represented a significant effort to optimize Presto for large-scale deployments. However, due to its proprietary nature and the evolution of the open-source Presto and Trino projects, Prestoy is no longer a commonly used or supported distribution. Organizations that relied on Prestoy have largely migrated to either the upstream Presto project or Trino.
