Pietro Correr (politician)

Pietro Correr (born c. 1396, died 1451) was a Venetian nobleman and politician. He belonged to the prominent Correr family, one of the oldest and most influential patrician families of Venice.

Correr served in various important positions within the Venetian Republic's government throughout his career. These included roles in the Council of Ten, the Senate, and as a ducal councilor. He was known for his diplomatic skills and was often dispatched on missions to represent Venice in negotiations with other Italian states and foreign powers.

Details of specific policies or actions undertaken by Pietro Correr are often limited to specialized historical works regarding the Venetian Republic during the 15th century. His contributions are generally viewed as part of the collective efforts of the Venetian patriciate to maintain the Republic's power and stability during a turbulent period in Italian history. He is also significant for being the nephew of Pope Gregory XII, a connection that would have enhanced his prestige and influence within Venetian society.
