Pierre Benoit (Ontario politician)
Pierre Benoit (born August 18, 1974) is a Canadian politician who served as a Member of Provincial Parliament (MPP) in the Legislative Assembly of Ontario, representing the riding of Prescott-Russell from 2011 to 2018. He was a member of the Progressive Conservative Party of Ontario.
Prior to entering provincial politics, Benoit worked as a businessman and was involved in municipal politics, serving as a councillor for the Township of Alfred and Plantagenet.
Benoit was first elected to the Ontario legislature in the 2011 provincial election, defeating incumbent Liberal MPP Jean-Marc Lalonde. He was re-elected in the 2014 provincial election. During his time as an MPP, he served in various critic roles for the Progressive Conservative party, including critic for Francophone Affairs and Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs.
Benoit ran for re-election in the 2018 provincial election but was defeated by Amanda Simard of the Progressive Conservative Party. Simard later left the PC party and sat as an independent before joining the Liberal Party.
