Philip King (musician)
Philip King is an Irish musician, filmmaker, and broadcaster, best known for creating and producing the music television series Other Voices.
King began his musical career as a founding member and accordion player in the Irish traditional music band Scullion in the late 1970s. The band, which also featured Sonny Condell and Robbie Overson, gained considerable acclaim for their innovative arrangements and original songwriting.
In addition to his work with Scullion, King has been involved in various other musical projects and collaborations. He has also worked extensively in film and television production.
Other Voices, his most renowned creation, is a critically acclaimed television series that showcases both established and emerging musicians performing in intimate settings. The series is filmed annually in Dingle, County Kerry, and has become a significant platform for Irish and international artists, fostering a reputation for discovering and promoting new talent.
