Peters (crater)

Peters is a lunar impact crater that lies on the heavily battered northern lunar surface. It is located north of the larger crater Barrow, and west-southwest of the prominent crater Goldschmidt.

The rim of Peters is heavily worn and eroded, with multiple small craters along its edge. The eastern rim has been nearly completely disrupted, and forms a wide valley leading down to the interior floor. The crater floor is relatively level, but also impacted by a number of small craterlets. A notable feature is a small, cup-shaped craterlet lying close to the inner wall along the northwest side. Due to its location and degraded state, Peters is difficult to distinguish from the surrounding terrain under low angles of illumination.

The crater is named after Christian August Friedrich Peters, a German astronomer.
