Peter McSkimming (manufacturer)

Peter McSkimming (1840-1923) was a New Zealand manufacturer, most notably known for establishing McSkimming & Son, a prominent pottery and earthenware manufacturing company based in Benhar, Otago. Born in Scotland, McSkimming emigrated to New Zealand in the 1860s and initially worked in various pottery-related roles before founding his own business.

McSkimming & Son became a significant industrial enterprise in the Otago region, producing a wide range of products including drainage pipes, bricks, tiles, and other ceramic goods. The company played a vital role in the development of infrastructure and building materials in the area.
